I always have plans to post here more frequently than I have. Then life happens and I come up short on doing so. Midterms appeared to have stealthed their way in, leaving me completely unprepared. As a result of my unpreparedness, I lost too many hours of sleep and ate entirely too much junk food. I completely aced one of my midterms–I’m talking 100% aced, the other, not so much and I wasn’t able to deliver a “stellar” presentation for the last course. Thank God it’s just midterms so I have enough time to improve. So here’s this week, photogenically speaking:

My bestfriend, along with another classmate of ours, got together Tuesday night to do some cramming and help each complete a few assignments. We started around 7PM, I cooked ribs, she did the mac and beans, and our other classmate ate. LOL! We didn’t leave until 2AM. And once I got home, I didn’t go to bed until 3AM. Not to mention, Wednesday is my longest day of the week and it did not wait for me to catch up. -_-

Whenever I go to the library, which is not as often as I should, I always go to the very top where I know I won’t have to deal with anyone disturbing me. The fourth floor is mainly avoided because it is under reconstruction, the ventilation sucks, and it looks a mess. I couldn’t care less as long as I have solace.

After staring at my computer screen for so long, and pretty much knowing all about the CRASH database and ANNs, I really just wanted to be outside, in the sun, with the rest of the student body that was done with their midterms. This is moment #487 where you realize another way graduate school for STEMS is soooo much different than undergraduate STEMs.

The week was long ya’ll. So when I say I NEEDED a getaway, believe me. I drove down to New Orleans and caught the Cirque Du Soleil show at the New Orleans Arena and had a blast. And I treated myself to the ultimate experience–floor seats, front row, with beer and nachos. I deserved that.

I’m not ready for Monday. I’m not ready for more work. I’m just not ready. There’s so much more sleep that needs to be had. Life is busy and I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed because I failed to use my time wisely like I’d done before. I need some motivation. I need to get out of this slump.

I need more beer and nachos.

Excellent job on your midterm!!!!!!! Best wishes to the rest if the term! The one beautiful week we had here I spent writing papers and studying for finals! I desperately needed a getaway thus weekend, too! I had so much to catch up this week and spent this week cleaning and catching up! Was happy to see that you have a new post up on FB! I was wondering where you were!

Yep.. I managed to emerge from the mountains of assignments that I had to write a post.

I spent the weekend cleaning and reorganizing. I think that may have been the reason I fell into a slump.

I see you’ve been pretty busy and believe me I completely understand being overwhelmed! But you have a lot more on your plate with going to school, working and taking care of your babies. I’m glad to hear that you’ve done well on one of your midterms. I wasn’t much of a crammer and I didn’t study for that matter, the pressure always made things worse for me. I would study for hours and when those tests came, I just could never remember a single thing I’d studied, so I stopped studying lol I would just read my notes every single day, do the home assignments, use post its on my notes, reading those all of the time too. When the tests came, I realized that I filled my brain with the constant reading, in between classes, at home, on my way to work, after work, whenever it was possible to do a bit of reading.

I loved the rush while I was in undergrad, but I’ve learned a hard lesson as a graduate student. I’m going to take your suggestions and revisit earlier this year when I did that–before my added responsibilities.

Being in school takes up so much of your time!! I’m sure it makes it hard to stare at a screen and blog by the time you finish all of that. I’ve wanted to go so see Cirque for a while! It comes every year and every year I say it’s too much money and don’t go. Glad you got some fun time in!

The shows can be a bit expensive, but the experiences are worth it. Those are some talented individuals.

First of all, I love the fact that you use pictures within your posts! Second, you weren’t kidding when you said you were having that kind of week!

Good for you for treating yourself after such a week, and this week will be a good week, and I’m sure you’ll stay on top of the workload. It’s amazing that you do all that you do. You must have time management on lock!

    Have a good Monday dear!!

I can say I know what it’s like to not have enough time to get everything done. Time management has always been an issue for me as well. I’m with Shannon, I only read notes and home work assignments. I was no good at studying. I was an excellent test taker. I love speeches and presentations. Congrats on acing one of your mid terms. I know you’ll be more prepared for your finals. Hang in there, the end is getting near. Can’t slip now 🙂

Great photos! I began to drool at the sight of those food photos. Its funny that you said you hadn’t been blogging as often as you should, because that’s exactly how I’ve been feeling. It’s not like it’s intentional, its just what you said…life happens and then you get consumed with other things.

Congrats on finishing up your semester in grad school as well!
