I spent a little time doing some shopping this morning. With my work hours, I haven’t been able to get to a store and really shop. Most of the time when I go, I’m there to pick up necessities and then as I’m walking to the cashier I’m thinking about hurrying home to sip on pomegranate wine (read: nectar of the GAWDS). Considering how much I spent, I see that it was all for the best.

But regardless of how much I spent today, I deserve it. I deserve to have some me time and I deserve to have everything I want after I’ve satisfied the needs and wants of my family. I’m guilty of putting myself last because as a mother, you always think of your children first and completely forgetting about the things that I want. I’ve conditioned myself to think that way and though the habit is hard to break, I’m getting better at treating myself and giving myself some of my time.

I wanted to dress as comfy as I could being as though I was going to do a lot of walking and that it’s still 90+ degrees here in Louisiana. I did manage to make it to Target to get the new Philip Lin bag. I had fallen in love with Ralph Lauren’s Dorian Spazzolato Shopper tote and decided that it would be my next purchase until I saw and Instagram buddy of mine talking about Phillip Lim’s debut at Target this weekend. And while a $60 alternative to a $400 bag isn’t too bad, I still have my heart set for the Dorian bag simply because I know my work laptop is going to kill the straps on my Phillip Lim tote.

While I did not find most of the clothing appealing, I am in love with my bag. I was a bit wary of the size and if it’d accommodate my laptop but the zippers on the side aid in providing more space for expansion. I also LOVE magnetic closures which is what this bag has. It’ll definitely do until I get my Ralph Lauren bag or until the straps give out, although the material does seem quite sturdy for everyday wear. We shall see.

I also managed to grab a few items to add to my meager cometics collection. I must admit that the only “make-up” I know how to apply and that I actually apply to my face is lip gloss/lip stick and eye shadow.

I am trying to tap more into my feminine side with wearing color on my lips. Most of my collection is more on the nude-colored lip wear but I did purchase this red lip stick a while back that I’m unfortunately not brace enough to try just yet.

When I went this morning, they didn’t have many but I’m assuming that they just didn’t have many in stock in the first place. Down here, the fashion is a little bit different. And since most people tend to dress like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, I knew I didn’t have anything to worry about. LOL!

HAHA! You know, I never even tried. Not even for H&M. I was always afraid of the line and lazy. I am sure its crazy in DC but I don’t think No. Virginia would have been that bad.

    Must . buy . this . bag .

But I will wait till you let me know how the handles hold up on it, I too lug my laptop around :-\.

Yes, though you are super mommy, and an incredible one at that, super mommy’s deserve that me-time too! I’m glad you’re trying to grasp that balance. and I glad that you share these types of things with us. I love getting your perspective of balancing everything you do!

So far, they are still holding on, but I decided not to carry my laptop around as much. Carrying around an 8″ tablet is sure to not do any harm. (:

That bag is frickin gorgeous! I love that you’re taking a lot of you time. I’ve seen women shed their womanness in lieu of motherhood so they trade in one role for the other instead of creating balance so that’s definitely something inspiring to see. I love that, seriously.

I need a new wine. By the end of the day I really need a sip.

I didn’t make it to Target to see the line but I will get by there when I go for my normal things. We do indeed as mothers make it a priority to put ourselves last but taking those moments really do make a difference.

I know a thing or two about putting the little ones first. Thats all I know. Every now and then I treat myself to something. I try not to go over board because there is always a need when it comes to my daughter. Its great to know that you find that time. Alot of us don’t get that pleasure. I love your bag. Its cute, and trendy in my eyes. When they come out with those kind of collections of bags they don’t stock many. I was lucky to get the last Jason Wu last year.

Your curves are killing honey! You’re a prize.

My collection of makeup is shameful. I have so many that I don’t even have the proper storage to keep them all. I’m a lipstick girl.

    Got to love Target.

I completely missed out on the opening. I check all the stores around Chicago, and that bag is nowhere to be found :-(.

I would so pay you to ship me one if there were any in your area lol.

Love the color of that lipstick! I always wanted that black bag. It sold out pretty quickly. Oh, but I didn’t need it anyways. And you definitely should reward yourself and take care of yourself. -Jess L

I love Love LOVE that bag! And I’m feeling the owl bracelet. Where was this flea market in New Orleans? I may have to take that 40 minute drive to scope it out. 🙂

The big flea market is in the French Quarter. I don’t think there was a name for the table for the guys that sell them, but when you walk through, you’re bound to see it.

I absolutely love Target however, the clothing is not appealing in the least but other then that I can spend endless hours
in there. I believe you in a red lip would be absolutely gorgeous, you should try it and do a “daring” post about it. The bag is absolutely gorgeous as well but I agree your laptop will kill the straps compared to the Ralph Lauren bag.

I’m going to get the courage soon. I put it on in the bathroom and just stare at myself for a while and I love how it looks. But them I wipe it off.. LOL!
