If I’m not mistaken, I just published a post saying “Hai” to August. Time is going by rather swiftly and I’m not complaining one bit. Things are pretty good this way. I’ve made a month at my job, my kids have completely adjusted to school, and school for me is going rather well. It’s still proving to be a challenge to help my son be more independent and self-sufficient, but we’re working on that. We’re also still trying to smooth out the kinks that we have with getting ready in the morning. So, I’ve decided to use this extended weekend to make some adjustments to our routine and our schedules. They probably won’t like going to bed earlier and I definitely won’t like getting up earlier but I am so tired of waking up in the morning fussing because they don’t want to get out of bed. Or because once they’ve gotten out of bed, they spend a little extra time “using the bathroom” or “dressing themselves” because they’ve decided to try to get some extra Zzz’s in.

This month will also be the month that I join a gym. It almost pained me to to type that. My best friend is going all in and I admire her persistence as well as her stories about her near death experiences at the gym. LOL! My job offers a MAJOR discount to a gym that also includes child care while I work out.

I’m not trying to lose weight. Let’s get that straight. I am perfectly fine with the 156 lbs that I lug around all day, and wouldn’t feel bad if that number increased to be honest. But, what I do know is that it definitely won’t hurt to do a little toning that my body needs. I figured a few cycling classes and ABsolution wouldn’t hurt. And make sure I get that $150 health credit from my job. HELLO SOMEBODY!

Also, this month I’ll be limiting, if not eliminating my time spent on social networks. I’m starting my first project at work post-training and there are a lot of things that I have to learn. I don’t need anything to divert my attention away from where it needs to be. I’m trying to be a project manager like yesterday.

I went on a social networking hiatus back in June and it proved to really work and enhance the effort that I put into my work. Have I deleted the apps or logged out yet? Not yet, but it will be done today. While I won’t be disconnecting from all of the networks, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram will definitely receive little to none of my time. I do plan to stick around on Google+, LinkedIn, and in Blog Land. There seems to be less drama and foolishness on these networks.

And last, this month I also plan to start dating.

Or go shopping.

Shopping sounds better.

LOL I love that last line!

Great that things are going well for you in every area of your life seems like. Keep up this momentum you seem to have and all the other not so good areas are bound to catch up with you! It’s great that you’re doing the school thing and setting your intentions to improve health and fitness habits also.

I’ve been contemplating a hiatus of sorts from social media, specifically Twitter and IG. Facebook I want to completely delete all together but haven’t found the “strength” to do that just yet. I don’t know why. But soon. I feel it coming.

Well good luck to your journey! Wish me luck on mine as well!

Shopping is always good. And dating was always at least interesting 🙂

Enjoy the gym! I wish I got a credit from my job, lol.

I love the photos you chose for this post, they go together so well! I personally vote shopping over dating any day, but that’s just me. I seriously can’t believe it’s September already. Where in the WORLD does time go?!

haha about dating vs. shopping. I once yelled at my (then) future hubs (we’ve been married 10 years now) when he called me in the middle of shopping. Oh gawsh. I sure was mean.

I’m making September my month to really get back on it with my whole fitness plan. I’ve been paying for a gym membership I barely use. Time to change that. And yes, this Fall I plan to limit my time on social media if it doesn’t pertain to the blog. I’m trying to get more personal projects done + things like Facebook can be a totally distraction when it’s time to work.

Dating AND the gym? Big Month. Best of luck with both. You are going into working out with the best attitude there is. Working out to be fit and healthy-not skinny.

*waves* Hey, girl! I haven’t been on any of my favorite blogs lately!

So glad to hear you and the fam are adjusting well since the start of the school year and your new job.

Good luck on your gym efforts! I was in your position last fall – working, schooling, and mothering – and I managed to run three days a week, too. It CAN be done (and will actually help you keep down the stress).

Social networking? Yeah, I go through spurts where I, too, have to let it go. And it works. It’s crazy how much find we waste “checking Facebook right quick.”

Much love to you and the kids! So happy to hear all is well!

Loved this post…. so much personality here! “Hello somebody” made me laugh out loud. Sounds like you have your hands full, especially with your kids and morning routines. I hope you are able to get a routine down without losing too much hair. Also, I say to go for shopping AND dating. 😉

I’m with you! I’m spending less and less time on social networks these days! I know it seems like it will last forever, but I think social media in general may run it’s course. I DO love blogging though and I never want that to go away!

Looking forward to reading more of your blog!

Hello doll! Thanks so much for all of the advice you left on my blog. I really appreciate it. I would LOVE to email you one day and talk to you about web development and things like that. 🙂 I’ll contact you soon!

I think it is great that you are taking a break from certain time consuming social networks because they are truly a waste of time when you’re trying to focus and get things done. I know exactly where you’re coming from because I LOVE social networking. I recently stopped visiting a fb group that was time consuming for me. Instagram is my other weakness but I don’t think I can let it go like you are lol.

I hope that you stick with your workout because our bodies look so much better when their toned and healthy. I’ve always been skinny but never toned..

Goodluck dating! who knows.. you could find “the one” 🙂

Carla, I really admire you for being a single mom and still being able to do what you do. Lots of single moms I know in the military, and I don’t know how they do it, when I struggle balancing with just my marriage, myself, and of course the military. I imagine like anything else in life you just do it. Also, I caved in and joined a gym this year myself, because of the huge discount I get, but I do a lot of my exercising outside of the gym. I just mainly joined for the yoga classes, that are never convenient for the times I am actually off work. And yay for dating again! -Jess L

You know that saying about how you never know how strong you are until being strong is all you can do.. yea.. that’s pretty much how my life goes. It gets VERY hard sometimes, but it’s something that needs to be done. My children deserve to have the best and so do I and that’s the philosophy that keeps me going.

Reading your blog has pretty much inspired me to be a little more healthy. And while I can’t get my meat eating just yet (or ever), I pretty interesting in trying a few of the foods that you mention.

And this month, you’ll complete that list and conquer those goals. I don’t know what it is about the beginning of a month and a season change, it creates that urge for change. I really like the gym idea! I think I told you this before, your body is simply amazing! If anything the gym will put you in a good mood and it’ll help you clear your thoughts… especially for that new project you’re about to begin!

Good luck with the social network break and dating! I’ll def. be checking in to see the updates!

      September 9, 2013 at 9:43 am

Yes Yetti.. this month I WILL accomplish all that I’ve set out to do. And yes, definitely not on a weightloss journey, but more like you and your journey… a journey to be fit and healthy. And I’ve heard that it relieves stress and anxiety and if that’s the case, I’m here for it!

I’m in the same boat as well. I have the same goals put out for this month and for the next year to come. I’m already working out BUT that social media chatting have to come to an end for me. Personal reason. Savannah and I haven’t quite gotten into the morning rhythm with things. I feel like sleep doesn’t come easy these days.

I know you will be more focused at work and at home.

    Get your date on.
Slide in a few shopping trips as well.
