I love Bre’s Black Girl Watching lists so I wanted to do something similar.. especially since this is all that my life consists of lately.

Reading

I just finished reading The Secret Lives of Church Ladies. This should probably go under the listening category, but I’ll add it here. It’s a bunch of stories that allow us to peek into the lives of several women that have some connection with the church. Be it a church-going woman, a daughter whose mother is heavy within the church, etc. It’s a short read/listen that took me entirely too long to finish. It’s not that it wasn’t good, but it wasn’t great either. I guess I was just expecting something different. A twist of some kind where maybe the characters were all connected in some way in the end. Peach Cobbler and Instructions for Married Christian Husbands were something else though. I give it a 2.5/5.

Up Next Pile:
– Recursion by Blake Crouch ( currently reading)
Got the rec from Disa as I was catching up on all the blog posts that I’ve been missing from everyone. I’m enjoying the book so far.

– Wahala by Nikki May
– Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins Valdez

I moved from goodreads to storygraph to help support Nadia Odunayo. I love the simplicity of the app and I’m excited to see how it evolves over time.

Watching

I’m currently watching the live broadcasts of the world burning on Twitter. But that’s another post for another day or just not at all.

In happier news, I’ve been watching Stranger Things all week. When I make it to S4:E7, I just start from the very beginning all over again. Hashtag Obsessed Major, no Minor. I can’t wait for Volume 2 in the next few days.

I’ve become a reality TV junkie within the past few years so I’ve been heavy on the binging of Bring IT!, Love & Marriage Franchises on OWN, Housewives of Atlanta, Beverly Hills, Dubai, and Potomac until it returns. It’s a guilty pleasure.

Listening

All of us in the Stranger Things universe have Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill on repeat. So much so, that after 37 years, it’s No. 1 on the UK Singles Charts. Besides that, I’ve been loving Chloe’s music lately. I loved Treat Me and I think I love Surprise even more. And I always love her videos.
