Yesterday was the first day of the spring semester. It was also my first day actually going to school when the semester started. It felt good being able to start on time and overcoming my lethargy and my hate for Spring semesters. As always, I’m still organizing my schedule. That’s always the toughest part about maintaining a full-time job and being a full-time student. Eventually, I will have no other choice but to switch from full-time to part-time, but I’m trying to put that off for as long as I can. In the meantime, I’m saving money for when that has to happen. I’ll probably lose about $400 a month, so I’ll have to save that amount so I won’t have to completely alter my lifestyle for those 4 months of school. Nevertheless, it always works out and I’m pretty thankful for that.
I’m not sure why, but spring semesters are never good semesters for me. This semester, I plan on changing that. Surprisingly, I’m much more enthusiastic and motivated. I’m learning how to better manage my time and I’m definitely trying my best to stay organized. Along with this enthusiasm and motivation is a surge of energy. Mornings flow a lot smoother now and I can’t complain about that. As for as my goals for this semester, I plan on actually arriving to class early and completing my assignments early as well. In regards to my GPA, I’m aiming for at least a 3.5 and no less than a 3.0. My last two semesters have been great in regards to my grade point average and I’m trying to continue to progress.
Let’s see how this goes.

January 13, 2011 at 1:19 pmI can totally relate. Through college I worked full time and took a full load of classes. You’ll be fine, hang in there!

January 14, 2011 at 6:18 pmI just can’t wait until I get to college but in all honesty I don’t want to go and this shocks just about everyone that knows me. I strongly dislike school even though I’m a good student. I just know college is going to be tougher but I’m trying to make it in life. I’m trying my best to get rid of some of my bad habits like being unorganized and not studying while I still can because I know if I don’t college will kick my butt.
What are you going to school for?

January 15, 2011 at 8:36 amYou are definitely right about that. You have to have self-discipline, otherwise, you definitely won’t succeed in college. You’ll be fine though. Once you figure out what you want to do, if you already haven’t, then I’m sure what you choose to major in will interest you.
I major in Computer Science Information Systems.

January 14, 2011 at 7:10 pmI don’t see how you do it, work + school + mom of 2, but you do! Sooner you get back to school the faster the day will come and go.

January 15, 2011 at 1:34 pmI’m glad to see that you’re enthused about it all! I never knew how important time management was until my son started school. I use to be able to just be on time for work without any worries, because he was staying home with my sister anyway so I could just leave out. But since he started school I have to rush to take him in the mornings, then I’m pressing for time to get to work, it’s very hard because I’m usually always late. I’ve only recently adjusted my work schedule to accommodate that time. All should be well now, though.
I think that with the right time management, you will be able to reach your desired goals. You seem to have everything already planned out and just a touch of enthusiasm is a great thing to add onto that.
