We’re half-way through August already. This year is truly flying by.

Yesterday was my mom’s birthday! Happy Birthday, Mommy! again..

Registration for the Fall semester began today. Now, in all honesty, I planned on going to pay my fees so I could get my book voucher to get my books and school supplies but there were entirely too many people on campus today doing the same thing. Plus, there were registration and people for Financial aid in one line. I found it rather ridiculous for those who have completed the financial aid process to have to stand in line with others who have yet to complete their financial aid. But, after checking my school email, which I rarely do, I discovered that my fees had already been paid when I accepted my award package. Now that is a W – I – N! I cannot be a happier Southern Univeristy student on this day – the day I realized that fees can be paid online and billing statements are emailed to your school email. I guess I need to start checking my school email more often..

I no longer loathe returning back to school for the Fall semester. Perhaps this is because my manager is allowing me to work less than 40 hours and still be considered full time. In the past, this has been a problem, but I’m glad she’s a bit more lenient. And perhaps I’m finally a bit more optimistic about returning because I only have about two more semesters to complete before I’m able to graduate. It’s been a long journey and I’m almost to the end of it and I won’t stop until I’m done.

My daughter starts school on Wednesday. At the last minute, she decided that she wanted to attend the same school as my niece. She went for testing last Friday and we both got a chance to meet her teacher. After testing, her teacher also recommended that she be tested for the gifted/talented program. Unfortunately, the school doesn’t have a gifted/talented program, which made me subtract major cool points, but I’m looking into getting her tested regardless.

Lately, I’ve been finding major treasures on my thrifting adventures. I’ve been hearing so much about the book “Wench” and while I was in the consignment shop, I spotted it along with a few other books, for $2.99! I was also able to locate some linen pants for my son and other shorts from the Gap in the consignment shop. He wore them to church and he was so handsome, might I add. I found a bonnet at Dollar Tree for my daughter to wear with a summer dress that I bought for her a while back.

Aren’t they the cutest?

Happy belated birthday to your mom! 🙂

So glad to hear your fees were paid off, and that you have two more semesters before you graduate! That is wonderful news. I’m very excited to start school again. I have been doing nothing but working, working, and more working. That is so nice of your boss to let you work less than 40 hours so you can go to school. Yippee!

Your kids are SO adorable. I love the hat and dress! Your son has a cute smile :o)

    Happy birthday to your mom!

Yay for returning to school! I remember when the semester would end and I’d be counting down the days til it started up again. Those breaks used to drive my batty.

I read “Wench” and enjoyed it. There were some parts that were incredibly difficult to read though.

    Your kids are too cute!

Yes, they are the cutest! Southern huh? I’ll finally get to see what the fuss is about your band when they come play my Alma Mater FAMU next month at the classic!

You haven’t heard? We’re the Baddest in the Land – SU’s band is loved more than the football team, but that’s partly because our football team sucks. I might be driving down to FAMU this year. Just keep in mind, I’m NOT rooting for the team that has no talent but receives most of the aid/funding, I’m rooting for the band! LOL!

Amazing! It sounds like everything’s going your way!

I am seriously impressed that you can even juggle a full-time job, school and your children. Hats off to you.

Omg, your kids are seriously the cutest. I bet both of them stood out the most when they went to church ’cause they’re probably the snazziest dressers!

Honestly Tiff, I wonder how I’m able to really do it all, there are days when I am completely exhausted, but I guess it’s almost like a routine that my body and mind are used to doing, so it gets done regardless.

Thanks for the compliment. They are something else – my daughter loves to dress up and my son would much rather not, like.. completey-naked not. LOL.

Happy belated birthday to your mother.

Wow! Two more semesters? That’s truly an accomplishment in its self.

Aw, your kids are such beautiful kids. What grade is your daughter in now?

Girl, I need to start checking my school e-mail as well. I’m getting bad at checking mines. Glad your fee’s were paid for, that is a relief.

Southern campus is beautiful (well, from what I saw in the photo. i’ve actually never been there)..but waiting so long to find out about your financial aid AND registering for classes is just way to much for me. We’re allowed to register for classes before the previous semester is even over. THANK YOU BABY JESUS! So, I don’t have to fight tooth and nail (too much) for my courses. I’m happy you’ve discovered the wonders of university email tho. Lol! Congrats on being so close to finishing!! One of these days I’ll be saying it my self….I said one day…not any day soon tho. Your kiddies are so adorable! They look just like you 😛

We’re able to register before the semester begins but we were never able to pay fees. And girl, Southern University is NOTORIOUS for their financial aid screw ups. I’ve had it happen to me once and it has never happened again.

And as long as you plan on finishing, that’s all that matters. I was once told, “College is not a race, rather a marathon.” I believe this is true, I just don’t plan on running a marathong my whole line without reaching the finish line. LOL. Stay focused – It’ll be over before you know it. I can say that with a straight face too. 😀

    Happy Birthday to mom!!!
I did my financial aide. Just didn’t pick my classes yet. I am like so lazy. By the time I do that, there wont be any seats left in the classes I need. I’m thinking of just skipping this semester and going in the spring. I wish I can go to an outer state college. Schools down in the south really are beautiful and full of energy.

Your kids really are so cute! I would have never guessed that hat came from the Dollar store which just goes to show that I really need to visit the dollar store!

I’m glad your boss is working with your schedule – I hope that makes things go smoothly for you this fall!

    Aw, your kids are adorable!
Long line ups are the bane of my existence, I try to avoid them whenever possible, so I’m glad you managed to avoid that one!

    The kids are sooooo cute.
It is awesome that your manager is letting you work less hours and remain full time. Most would not do that.
Going back to school is stressful, but it is good you have all the advanced technology now for communication. I have been out of college for 10 years and I wish we had all the stuff they have now.
Enjoy! Wishing you a great school year.
