August is finally here which means the end of the summer is drawing near and I’m not quite ready for it to end. July seemed like the most challenging and longest month of my life! Not to mention, it rained for most of the month as well. Nevertheless, it’s been a great summer for the most part, especially since I didn’t have to worry about school assignments and tests. It felt good being able to pretty much wake up later than 8:00 AM, or should I say, lay in the bed past 8:00 AM. Being able to sleep past 8:00 AM is foreign to me.

The Lake at my Parent’s Home

I didn’t get a chance to travel as much as I would have hoped for, but that was mainly because I was in desperate need of some wheels. I believe that was one of the highlights of my summer. I’m still in awe about my acheivement. It feels good being able to get into a car that I know will start and get me here, there and everywhere. I have yet to put the Silver Bullet to the highway test, but the summer isn’t over just yet. Hopefully after church this Sunday, we’re headed to Florida, or Mississippi, before they go back to school. That’ll at least give them something to share with their little friends when they return to school next week.

There’s a lot to be done this week. Besides getting settled in the house, I still need to get school supplies for my daughter, clothes, shoes, hair accessories – and not to mention, my son is going to need some things to for his school. As for me, school starts soon and returning to take on a new semester creates an indifferent feeling for me. I’m ready to return, but coincidentally, I could definitely go for a few more weeks before I have to return to such responsibilities. As with the start of any semester, I plan to remain organized. One of the things that I’m excited about, though, is shopping for school supplies. I’m a nerd and I can spend hours in Office Depot testing out pens, Sharpie markers, and the like.

The ending of the summer is always bittersweet to me, though. I was able to appreciate every event that has occurred. The smiles, the laughter, the tears, the accomplishments, the triumphs, the tribulations – everything. So besides the hot weather that permits cute summer outfits with bright colors, cookouts, late nights with daquiris, and weekend trips, my summers always present me with the opportunity to grow and to become a stronger person. It provides introspective moments, as well as time for self-reflection. And that, is what I look forward to each year.

What was the highlight of your summer?

The lake looks beautiful! I cannot believe that July flew by quick. I also cannot sleep past 10AM… but for some reason, I started waking up at 8AM or 8:30AM. It’s so weird. Ah well.

I hope you’re able to take your kids out on a road trip 🙂 it’ll give them something to talk a lot about! I like road trips, they are so fun.

Yessss, school supply shopping! I love it. I love the feeling of having new notebooks, college ruled papers, highlighters, pens, and binders! Well, I only have one and I doubt I’ll be buying a new one since it is one of those FiveStar Flexibinders. I swear, I could spend a whole day in Office Max or Staples, and I wouldn’t mind it at all.

My highlight of the summer would be me and B going out of Massachusetts to Connecticut together. It was our first road trip together and I loved every moment of it!

I have a one binder that I use for all my classes and I’m almost positive it’s a Five Star binder. Big binders and dividers are love. 🙂

I have yet to go on a road trip. I bet that was a wonderful experience for the both of you.

I will not believe that summer is over! *plugging ears* I have done some really exciting things and I hope to carry that feeling into the fall, although I hate the cold weather months.

Yes, I put that on Twitter one day that I smile inside when school supplies come out. Not sure what it is, but once all of that stuff goes on sale I buy a bunch of it…for me. This year I’m on good ole fashioned pencils. Got me a pencil sharpener to go with them!

Glad your summer went well. Mine was busy. Fall is my favorite time of year so I am really looking forward to getting out with the kids and taking in the sights and cool air.

Your picture looks so peaceful. I think that was my favorite part of the summer getting to hang by the lake, and with friends and family.

Beautiful picture you took of the lake. Makes me want to go there lol.

I’m happy you’ve enjoyed your summer and go to sleep in, at least until 8 A.M.

I get all excited as well in regards to school supplies. I just went past that section this past weekend at the store and was ready to pick up items I didn’t need lol. I have a shopping issue, but moving alone, beautiful post and I will get back to you on a highlight of my summer. I really cannot pin point anything that stands out lol.

That lake picture is absolutely gorgeous! I really wish I would have spent some time outdoors this Summer but that was just impossible with this dry, Georgia heat .. and this huge pregnant belly.

I love shopping for office supplies! I am a true pen and notebook freak. I miss the days were I would race up and down aisles, grabbing Crayolas and pencil pouches and checking things off my supply list. I can’t wait to do that with my son. I’ll probably have way more fun then him. Lol

The highlight of my Summer will be having this baby next week. 🙂

Summer really does feel like it’s flying by! I can be a nerd when it comes to school supplies too! I can be a real hoarder when it comes to that.
My summer highlights probably include riding roller coasters all day at an amusement park, and of course the skydive I just did last weekend.

I still want to take my kids to the waterpark out here since they opened it. I just haven’t gotten around to doing it.

Wow! A Lakeside view; how beautiful! I’m glad you endured this summer so you can now look back on all the blessings it has brought to you. I am feeling somewhat the same way as you are in regards to returning to campus. I’m excited to see what the Fall semester will hold, but still wanting to linger just a bit more in my lazy days 🙂 I wish you many blessings in the future!!

I cannot believe that summer is coming to an end. I am SO not ready to let go of summer just yet, mainly because a few (very important) things are still up in the air for me. But also because I just love the feeling of summer and relaxing and whatnot. But I like shopping for school supplies too. LOL. So glad you were able to get a car this summer, even if it meant not traveling as much. Also, so sorry that your anemia has been sucking the life out of you recently. It must be hard, but this too, shall pas..

I still love shopping for school supplies for my daughter. Because it gives me a reason to get all kinds of things I don’t need, just to have the cool stuff on my desk at work. I’m the queen of decorative file folders, fun paper clips & funny shaped hole punches that I have no use for.

As for the end of summer….I wouldn’t know. LOL. The weather here in the Pacific NW has been so inconsistent, I’m happy if I even see the sun. Hopefully, you’ll have some time to do a little weekend trip somewhere before it’s too late!!
