Today was any other day to me. I woke up, got my children ready for school, ran a few errands, and returned home to relax before I had to head to campus for my class. I was supposed to give my chair a call about an assistantship that I hadn’t even heard back from and had pretty much dismissed it. And that was fine. I was still on a high about a good start to the Spring semester that the lack of any type of communication didn’t phase me. I’m finishing up the last of my errands before I head to campus when the chair of my department gives me a call asking to meet him about an assistantship. And a feeling of calmness came over me. A feeling of confidence and faith filled me. I just felt like something good was going to happen.

And it did.

I was offered the opportunity to instruct a course for undergraduate students. The details were laid out–the time, the place, the pay. And I accepted. Without hesitation.

I teach my first course tomorrow. TOMORROW. And I couldn’t be more excited.

I remember praying for an opportunity.. a chance to get some experience.. a moment to just be able to get my foot in the door and make a name for myself. And this is it. My God.. this. is. it!

I wish I could explain to you all how blessed I feel, how grateful I am, and also how deserving I feel. I’ve worked hard, but I’ve prayed even harder. And when good things like this happen, it reminds me why nothing else worked out. It reminds me of Proverbs 16:3 as well as Proverbs 3:5-6.

Commit to the Lord, whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.

This plaque hangs on my bedroom door and I am forced to see it.. to read it.. to comprehend it and practice it before I even touch the knob. It’s a constant reminder to trust God. Because when you do, when you live for, love unconditionally, and trust wholeheartedly in the Lord, you reap wonderful benefits!

Please remember this. Whenever you feel as if you don’t know what is to come from all of the hard work and effort that you put forth. Remember this. Remember my testimony.

Remember me.

I’ve been seeing “Commit to the Lord, whatever you do, and He will establish your plans,” EVERYWHERE lately…. I think it’s about time I print it out and put it somewhere LOL.

But girl… CONGRATS!!! That is awesome news and how wonderful will that be on your resume!? You are very much deserving of this. What course is it? What an amazing start of 2013. Goodluck hun ♥ xoxo

Thank you so much! And yes, find it, print it, and recite it everyday and you will begin to practice it without any thought. It’d be a way of life.

I start teaching a computer literacy course that is required for all majors except computer science majors. The course teaches how to use business applications. You’d be surprised how many students aren’t really good with the Microsoft Office Suite. I’m excited to teach it.

Aww yay congrats! I hope it went well. You know, I’m such a negative nancy, but little things like this give me hope for positivity. I’m going to make a post-it of the proverbs and remind myself of them everyday! Once again, congratulations!

That is a once in a lifetime opportunity! I am so excited for you! Way to go!

I need to do that a bit more honestly. I need to be a bit more on my toes and trust God a bit more. That sign is so pretty and such a good reminder. We all need a reminder like that.

Funny, I too have been hanging up different things that inspire me and because I’m forced to read them I’m more inclined to believe them and become them ;]. I even told my boyfriend’s mom about how this works for me and she told me yesterday, that she’s finally did the same. Happy for all of your successes through your journey through life, and glad that you kicked butt during your first day ;]. Thanks for sharing the verse!

How in the world did I miss so many posts??

I was so excited when I saw you post this on FB! From a fellow teacher, I know all the rewards you’re about to receive. Not sure if you were considering another career path, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself still teaching years from now. 🙂

By the way, I teach Computer Literacy, too (to high schoolers, of course). I love my job and I love what I teach. You’re gonna have a ball!

If you ever need anything, give me a holla.
