After closing on my home last year, I was determined to get my own space within the house and just make it my own little sanctuary. I did pretty well in doing so without breaking the bank by using some of the things that I already had in my possession. I used old desks that I had repurposed from Goodwill stores and it sufficed for the time being.

However, I grew tired of the lack of desk space since the desk was only 20″ deep and the other dimensions weren’t too great either. So, I decided to upgrade to an L-shaped desk. I discovered the Readyspace Mezza collection at Office Depot. I had just recently purchased my laptop a few days ago (a smaller, compact one) and decided to see what else they had on sale. This model was originally priced at $159.00 which was dramatically reduced, and there was an online coupon that gave me an additional $25 off. So I ended up scoring this beauty for about $135. And I couldn’t be more pleased.

The desk wasn’t hard to put together, but if you’re not good with pictorial instructions, you may want to seek help. I am a self-proclaimed DYI-er who knows her limits so I managed to assemble the desk in about 1.5 hours. And the fact that I’ve put together a similar desk years ago, I had a feel for how the installation should go. This desk is VERY, VERY, sturdy in my opinion, and I am absolutely loving all of the extra space.

I still have a few more things to update in this area before the final phase occurs — which are the installation of my barn doors. Like the shelf that the printer is on, I want to paint it a bold color to give the room a little pop and wow. I’m not sure so I may end up settling with white. I also think I want to swap out the curtains since they are so close to the color of the wall. We’ll see. Click here to view pictures of what my Momcave looked like before.

This is so nice. You’re doing a great job decorating! I love that you have multiple screens. That’s something that I definitely miss when I’m working at home, as opposed to working at work.

I really don’t know how to function in life without more than one monitor. LOL! I live for extending. I guess because I have so much going on at one time it just helps to keep me from going completely insane.

I’m so jealous of that bookcase. It’s my dream to have a reading room when I finally do own a home!
