I’ve realized that I’m halfway through the month and I haven’t blogged. Life has been a little bit of a whirlwind these last few weeks and I’m just slowly awaiting the day that I hop on the plane and head to another country for a week. I’m still packing — although I started about a month ago. I’ve tried about seven times to reduce my belongings to a carry-on and a personal item but I’m accepting the fact that I just cannot do it. Not for 5 days in Mexico.. No. I just cannot.
I’ve slowly been improving fixtures and things around the house. I’ve been here 7 months and my living room is still bare. Last weekend, I did manage to change the light fixtures in the kitchen over the dining area and the two in the hallway. Even decided to set up an indoor herb garden in the breakfast nook area. I’ve been wanting one for some time now and since I had time this month before the #RaeLaSoulTour2k16 begins again, I figured I’d go ahead and get started.
I purchased everything from Walmart (lavender herb from Lowe’s) — two curtain rods ($6.97 each), the herbs ($3.98 – $5.98), and the tin chalkboard pails ($2.97 each). **The pails will need a liner. Or you can just take the plant out and water it but I chose to use a liner of some sort. I used these.**
I didn’t feel like searching for the studs and I’m unsure as to if there are any in this wall, so I used the anchors when installing the rods. Also, the initial plan was to use S-hooks to hang the pails, but the hooks that I had around the house where too small to fit around the width of the rod. So since I had some burlap hanging around from a wreath I’ve been working on for two years (don’t ask), I used that to tie them to the rod.
And since they haven’t fallen yet, I think I’ll just keep it as is. If they come crashing down, I’ll be sure to update you guys and let you all know to abort and use a better method than my half-assedness..
I’m picking up rosemary tomorrow to complete the set of 6, but I’m still thinking about adding another rack of herbs. Or perhaps I’ll just wait to add other things to the garden space outside that has yet to be prepared. (Read: I’m lazy and aint get to it yet.) I guess this will hold me over until then. LOL! Perhaps I can get something accomplished this weekend.
Any herbs that you all would suggest I add? Let me know in the comments.

April 3, 2016 at 10:19 pmOMG! This garden is so freaking cute! I’ve always wanted to decorate my house… and even though this is semi different – they have really cute baby cacti plants at Home Depot which I really want to add to my desk.
