August was long. Very long. But September’s here and I honestly feel ready to embrace all there is to embrace. I usually set a theme for the month using just one word, but after all that has occurred last month, I don’t feel that just one word would suffice.
There is so much that needs to be done that without a doubt, September will be for all of the rebuilding that needs to take place and that is taking place in the coming weeks.
At the bottom of patience one finds heaven. — African Proverb
But September is also for going on a previously planned vacation even though the world is crumbling. Even though your world has crumbled. Because traveling, without a doubt, brings me back to my center when I’ve gone off on a tangent. It’s for going on vacation and not feeling one damn ounce of guilt about it, but making the mental note to purchase trip insurance in the future.
September is for the football games and the dance practices that are awaiting us. Pumpkins, blankets, piles raked leaves my pup jumps into basically suggesting “screw all of your hard work“, and that first scent of the crisp, Fall air.
It’s for our journey back to our own little rendition of normalcy — and all of the hope, patience, and grace it will take to get us there.
