I woke up full this morning. Christmas has passed but my living room still holds its remnants. I’ve been slow to start my mornings and I feel absolutely no regret. I’ve had my Out of the Office notification on since last week and it isn’t set to expire until 2019. And that’s when I will get to work.

Earlier this year, I pulled an empty notebook from the shelf in my home office and I wrote a word across the first page: EXECUTE. And on all of the pages that followed were goals and ideas and plans on how to .. execute all of these things. I spoke this word over every single thing I had written in this notebook and over all things for this entire year. And it worked wonders.

– I traveled, per usual.
– I finally left my unfulfilling job for one that I absolutely love.
– I’ve met a reading goal.
– I’ve met financial goals.
– I finally finished my Masters of Computer Science and celebrated with family and friends.

It rained a lot today, all day actually. But I love it when it does. It puts me in a real calm and introspective space. I had every intention to resurrect the whole year recap template, but I wasn’t feeling it. I wanted to make this post short, sweet, and as straight to the point as I can. Plus, I plan to start using my journals more. And just as I did last year, I’m pulling another empty journal off of my shelf and filling it with all things 2019.

I think spent the majority of this year consuming, but all due to the need to achieve my goals. So for 2019, I know I want to do more creating. Write more. Read more. Capture the world around me without having to explain why I am taking a picture of what I’m taking a picture of. I want to create a space, a life, where I am developing, acquiring, improving, refining, elevating, cultivating..

Cultivation.

2019 is the year of cultivation.

If you’re like me and you select a word/theme for the new year, I wish you all the best with your goals and aspirations. And may your theme/word guide you to them. See you all in the new year.

EEK! You would of thought I read your post before I wrote mine. I’ve always kept a book to record my life goals. I’ve never created a dream board but I’ve always kept a goals journal. Have I ever stuck to it. No! My goal every year is to follow the plan I write for myself. Life never really work the way I start off. It’s amazing that you achieved your goals for 2018. That’s the push I need to actually follow my list through. Pray for me.

Happy New Year, Rae! I need to get back into journalling and planning… Things that I lost sight of toward the end of 2018. I pray that you have an amazing year filled with everything that makes you overflow with happiness and joy!

I realized that I need to write more. After all, my major is creative writing. It never occurred to me before to just carry a notebook around with me and jot things down, even if it’s not in paragraph form. I’ve recently started doing this and as a result, writing ideas have been accumulating. Things I use to find meaningless can be woven into articles and/or stories. Writing things down and looking at them later proves to be a very beneficial tactic.

    Happy New Year to you!
