I’ve been sitting in my robe since 7:30 AM. I was supposed to be close to the football field where my nephew plays football, but going to sleep at 8:30 PM last night had me with a headache this morning. I did a little tidying around the house which eventually led to me crawling back in the bed and napping for 3 hours. This week has truly drained me so resting was definitely in the plans for this weekend. The perfect way to get that rest is when it happens organically. Like when you’re reading something and you blink and then 3 hours have passed. Unplanned naps are absolutely undefeated and necessary.

This is my last Saturday where I can wake up when I want before I’m on the soccer and football fields. My son expressed a few months back that he wanted to get back into soccer so we joined a recreational league, my daughter is finishing up her last year of junior high cheering, and I’m gearing up for tailgating and hitting the road to follow Southern University Jags during their football season. Which, by the way, we are beginning to get really serious about since we’re attending the Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fair, Homecoming, the SU vs JSU game in Mississippi, and the infamous Bayou Classic game in New Orleans. Besides watching my nephew play, this is literally the only time I watch football. The energy of SU Jag fans is truly unmatched.

The rest of this weekend will be filled with binge-watching Mindhunters, finishing Binti, and then starting Mind Hunter. The purging, organizing, and cleaning I managed to do over my Labor Day vacation has really come through in the clutch.

Hey Rae, new reader here! Love your blog…but totally forgot whose blog I was reading when I found and bookmarked yours. Anyways, yes, I totally agree – unplanned naps be the best and that’s really the only way you can get them as an adult. Planning to nap as an adult is hella hard. ? And I pretty much spent my Labor Day weekend doing the same thing – decluttering and organizing stuff. Wishing you a great week! 🙂

You’re about to be a high school MOM soon!
I’m trying to think of Labor Day Weekend but…. can’t think about it. I’ve been traveling so I’m all over the place. Rest is necessary.
MANNNNN, I’m a northern so I can speak about the south and college sports (we just dry up here) but SU! I watched the band live one night and was amazed. Hoping one of my children gies ti a HBCU, no experience like it. I’ll keep up with your updates when I get back on IG. Glad you’re well.
