Whew… it’s been quite a while. I forgot how strenuous a summer pregnancy can be especially while dealing with other kids, working, and trying to remain sane during a pandemic. The second trimester was a breeze, but now that I’m in the final stretch, I’ve had a fair share of struggles.

Work has been.. interesting. I am quite experienced in what I do but working in a different industry while learning about their processes is where the challenge comes in. The good news is after working a bear of a ticket/assignment, I was able to get my task approved and now I can move on to something else.

Do you know what has been much more difficult than work? Navigating pregnancy and establishing boundaries during a pandemic. I decided to cancel a baby shower that I was never really comfortable with due to our rising numbers and the lack of concern, regard, and consideration that so many people have for others. People are really out here without caution, ignoring guidelines, and exposing themselves and others to .. death. It’s angering and has really allowed me to see a lot of people that I know in a completely different light. Perhaps I should be a little thankful.

When it comes to preparing for baby, we pretty much have all of the necessities to survive for the first few months. Once I’ve gotten the last ultrasound and confirmation that it is indeed still a boy and there’s still only ONE inside of there (twin’s run in my family on both sides. Dad’s a twin, mom has twin sisters), I kinda went insane on the baby clothes. I had been collecting over the last few months and now I’m at a really good stopping point since I feel like we at least have a 3-6 month supply. Although I still have university apparel to purchase so he can represent THEE Southern University.

As I make it through my 34th week, the hospital bag is packed and the postpartum kit is assembled even though it’s still quite early. I also stocked up a medicine kit for an infant. I go in and out of nesting so the pantry may get organized today and it may not. Right now I’d just prefer to watch The Office while sanitizing my home, followed by lots of rest to keep the swelling at bay. Other than that, I’m putting an end to visitors, unpacking and organizing all of the gifts 😉 rolling in, preparing for my doctor ordered quarantined in the coming weeks, and counting down these final 6 weeks that’ll pass by as quickly as July has. After all, we’ll be halfway through the month next week.

Looking at these pics definitely gave me baby fever. I secretly want more kids. Especially a boy. I’m the only female in my family with no son. I always wanted to be a boy mom. They show their momma so much love and affection. UGH! I love my girls no less. Im excited to see your little guy, if you decide to show him. Nothing wrong with keeping your distance. I never wanted to have a baby shower, like not at all. I hated the attention and everything that came with it. I could have went without the gifts. I was ok buying everything. It was fun shopping for baby clothes. Especially when you buy what YOU want for your child. Sure beats returning a bunch or cheap corny purchases just they can say they bought something. I’m always grateful, but there is certain things in life I like control of.

The color options for baby boy is a vibe. I love the earth tones. A total vibe that matches your personality.

Yay, this is supppperrr exciting! Bringing life into the world…again! The level of disregard for other people’s health and well-being has been astounding to see these past several months. Folks still want to have kickbacks and parties and huge celebrations without social distancing or wearing masks–unreal. I’m glad you stuck to your guns and created boundaries because if anything it should be YOU who’s in her feelings about not having a baby shower, not other folks. Wishing you a safe birth/delivery and praying that you have all the love and support you need in the last stretch.

P.S. It’s good to know you’re adjusting to the new gig and finally finished with that project. 🙂

I’m happy to hear that you’re taking all of the proper precautions! I worry a lot about us, black women, when it comes to our health. I think you’re doing a fantastic job of ensuring that you and your family are safe.

I’m glad that you’re well. This is an exciting time and one to remind the kiddo 20 years from now lol. It’s heartbreaking to watch how people are freely open to death like this. I hang out with my family and have accepted being comfortable with my home, theres no way around it. Inside is just safer. Praying for a safe and healthy delivery. Update the registry again… baby will always need 9-12 (inserts winking emoji). How are the big sis and bro holding up?

Rae, I’m so happy for you! I hope the last 6 weeks (less now) of your pregnancy are treating you well. I completely get your concern about the baby shower. Better safe, than sorry. Wishing you an easy and safe delivery.

P.S. That room is everything! #babyfever
