Weird title for a blog post, but since this is one of those posts where I have to play catch up, I figured I’d use that since I’m pretty sure I have more than a few blog posts with the “Been a Long Time” type of titles. But it has indeed been a long time. If I remember correctly, I last posted around Jan/Feb. Life got busier than it usually is and the amount of energy I need for everything that keeps me busy is damn near depleted. I figured it was now or never to get a grip on life, one of the last Sundays I have to cuddle under my heated blanket before things get busier.
A Summer of Sports
My daughter and niece have joined an All-Star Cheer team. My oldest son is playing baseball with a small, local league to get some practice in for travel baseball tryouts. My youngest makes TWO in August and will be starting a special soccer program for toddlers. With all of that being said, my schedule is jammed packed which also means that to prevent overspending, meals and errands are planned. And so is the rest of our life in true Type A+ fashion.

PAWTY
Speaking of the toddler, we’ve also started planning a birthday party for him since Covid nipped plans in the bud last year. He loves Paw Patrol so yes, we’re having a PAWty that will be absolutely catered. The most I plan to do is set a few things up. I know how stressful things get when it’s the day of and I’m trying to alleviate as much potential stress as I can.. all while staying within a reasonable budget.
College Drop-out
I registered for a class to help obtain a cybersecurity certification. I was extremely excited.. purchased new supplies, cleaned my office, etc. I attended the first session and the instructor mentioned a prerequisite.. one that was not mentioned ANYWHERE on the site nor in the course description. I decided to withdraw because I absolutely DID NOT have the extra time to cram material just to not have to struggle in this class. Perhaps this is something that I’ll revisit at a later date.. AFTER I finish studying for my Project Management Professional certification.
Vacationing Again
All of my avid readers/friends know how much I’ve missed traveling. For the first time in 2 years since the pandemic, I got on a plane to Washington DC to visit friends. We also drove over to New York. Later this month, the kids and I are headed to Panama City Beach to watch my nephew play baseball so it doubles as a family vacation. We rented some condos, made a few plans, and everything else we’re playing by ear based on the team’s schedule. It feels good to be able to be out and about while still being safe.
Gardening
I’m late.. again. So I purchased transplants this year and hope there’s a good summer yield. My blackberries and figs are flourishing so hopefully there’s still some time to get some fruit and veggies off the transplants. Summers in Louisiana usually end around Christmas so maybe so.
I hope to start blogging a bit more like I used to but it’s been hard trying to find the time to do all that things I used to love to do. Some days are easier than others to accept this hard truth, but it is what it is. It’s easier to see the light at the end of the tunnel because I know the time will make it’s way back to me eventually.
