August was long. Very long. But September’s here and I honestly feel ready to embrace all there is to embrace. I usually set a theme for the month using just one word, but after all that has occurred last month, I don’t feel that just one word would suffice. The past couple of weeks have been heavy. The heaviest few weeks that I’ve had since 2012 with the death of my mother. The flood waters came into my neighborhood, displaced us, and washed all of our memories and lives away. We’ve been working tirelessly with cleaning and sanitizing and tearing down walls.
