4 Days A Bajan – Oistins, Barbados

Last month, I spent some time in Barbados, enjoying the Bajan sun with my good sis Fal celebrating life. Fal had just finished publishing her first book, Ode, a few months ago and it finally sank into my mental that I got a whole ass Master’s degree in Computer Science. Having the time to truly relax allowed the both of us a moment to fully gauge just how gravitational our accomplishments were.

I woke up full this morning. Christmas has passed but my living room still holds its remnants. I’ve been slow to start my mornings and I feel absolutely no regret. I’ve had my Out of the Office notification on since last week and it isn’t set to expire until 2019. And that’s when I will get to work. Earlier this year, I pulled an empty notebook from the shelf in my home office and I wrote a word across the first page: EXECUTE. My daughter is now a teenager. I’ve been saying that since Friday, when it became official. It’s a bit surreal to know that I’ve been raising a child for 13 years. Watching her mature. Seeing her continually develop new interests. I feel honored to have such a clear view of her growing up right before my eyes. There are times where I miss when she was just a baby, but I’m equally as joyful to see how she continues to develop into her own person.
