We’ve been working. Really hard. Scheduling inspections, passing them, and rebuilding our home so we can return soon. It’s been a little over two months since we’ve been displaced and we’re all just ready to return back to our comfort zone.

There’s still a lot to do, but I’m so impressed and overjoyed with all of the progress being made. We’re now in one of the exciting parts — design. We’ve opened up the kitchen, added recessed lighting — a few that dim, new fixtures, and a new layout to the master bathroom.

I think that’s one things I’m looking forward to the most. My mother had a clawfoot tub that she had always wanted to restore and didn’t get a chance to do so before she passed away. When I bought my home, I wanted to try to find some way to incorporate into my home and finally get the chance to.

The restoration process was easier than I thought. There’s still another coat that needs to go on the outside and sanding on the inside, but I can’t wait until it’s all done. Perhaps I’ll post a tutorial on that later.you

There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done — but we’re remaining hopeful and anxious about how everything will look and come together.

So happy for you! Everything looks to be coming together really nicely. I think the design part is always the most exciting part! And how special to have the clawfoot tub restored. It looks great! Your mom is certainly looking down and smiling.

Yes, definitely! It’s what has helped me get through this whole ordeal. It is also preparing me for how the process will work when we decide to build our home from scratch.

Yay! So glad it’s coming along! Are you guys doing any of the work yourself, or is it all being handled by contractors? I can’t believe it’s been two months though. I’m sure you’re ready to be in your own bed again.

We’re doing it all ourselves. Waiting on a contractor to get started down here and it we wouldn’t be in our home until December or the New Year.

    Hey Darling!

Glad things are coming along. Recess lighting is everything. In my room at my parents house I had recess lighting with dimmers and loved them! It changes the mood.

That claw foot tub! OMG! I love them! Glad you’re able to use it in your home now, you’re mother would be proud. Can’t wait to read the DYI post.

I’ve been thinking about adding some recessed lighting in the bedroom, but if so, that would be done at a later time. The only thing we did in our bedroom was change out the lighting/fan which has dimming capabilities with it.

Oh my gosh! That tub is gorgeous. That is awesome that you are doing all of this stuff yourself. Awesome, and scary at the same time! I think we may have to end up doing some renovating if we ever get another house because that’s probably what we will end up with in this market so I’m trying to prepare myself for it.

It can be stressful at times but the creative process is really what I enjoy. And I think that’s what helped me deal with this situation as well as I did. But don’t let the renovation process scare you if you guys decide to take on a reno project. It’s totally possible.
