I was introduced to thrifting at a young age when I would accompany my mother to thrift stores. She would rummage and sift through things to find the treasures that caught her quick eye. During this process, I learned that the trick was always to look really deep and really far. That one person's trash is another person's treasure. That patience is truly a virtue.

We had a garden when I was a young girl. So growing up, if we could produce it in our garden, that's what we ate. If any of you have tasted fruit/veggies from a garden compared to the store, you know the difference in the taste is significant. When I was planning my path to homeownership, I knew I needed to have a yard that was big enough to allow a garden. And since I have that and completely rising above procrastination, the first phase of my garden is complete.

I think I’ve come to terms with the fact that I may be a plant hoarder. Or perhaps I’m just a plant lover with hoarding tendencies. Whatever the case, whenever I’m in the store, I ALWAYS make it a point to check out the household plants and convince myself that my house needs more of them.
